I’ve been revisiting one of my older character illustrations. The original concept placed them in an abandoned house, a quiet moment of camaraderie amid decay. This rework leans into that atmosphere while refining the character designs and emotional tone.
Each character has been updated to better reflect their personalities and relationships. From the expressive fashion choices to subtle posture tweaks, I wanted their identities to shine through even in stillness.
First Sketch to adjust anatomy and posture

I start as usual by drawing the outlines, paying close attention to anatomical accuracy before I then move on to the colouring and shading. For this work, I chose as style with bolder brushstrokes and more pronounced highlights.
Difference in Style

I’ve yet to add Robin, but they will be getting a full overhaul. Their previous design didn’t quite capture the complexity I wanted visually and emotionally.
This rework is far from finished but I aim to showcase how far my art has come since the original version. Improved anatomy and posing making the characters now feel more grounded and expressive. Stronger colour theory I’m using contrast and harmony more intentionally to guide the viewer’s eye. More confident linework and rendering. And finally, overall deeper storytelling.
